Cascade Relays will produce the 9th Annual Cascade Lakes Relay Friday, July 29th – Saturday, July 30. Cascade Lakes Relay (CLR) is Central Oregon’s largest sporting event with over 3,000 participants and thousands of spectators traveling here from over 32 states and 3 countries.  280 teams of 6-12 runners/walkers are registered to participate in the 216 mile or 132 mile relay.  The scenic course begins at Diamond Lake or Silver Lake on Friday morning with teams running through the night to finish 24-36 hours later at Riverbend Park, Bend.

A typical team consists of 12 runners/walkers, each person completing three legs for an average total of 18 miles. Cascade Relays is committed to bringing the best race experience to its participants, with a focus on team spirit and camaraderie, an intimate feel and safety.  Cascade Relays has partnered with Airlink CCT to provide all CLR participants with critical care medical transport insurance should any participant require emergency air transport due to the remote location of portions of the course.

Cascade Relays is the country’s industry leader in using mobile technology, developing a Cascade Relays mobile app, created in partnership with Root-2 of Reno, Nevada. The Cascade Relays mobile app enables teams to record split times for all 36 legs, follow other team’s race progress in real time, access all leg maps, engage with sponsors and breweries through promotions and discounts, and utilize social media throughout the event.

The CLR Finish Line Brew Fest at Riverbend Park is open to all teams, friends, family and the general public.  Spectators are welcome to come cheer on teams while enjoying local craft beers, cider & Kombucha from seven local breweries including: Deschutes Brewery, 10 Barrel Brewing, Crux Fermentation Project, Silver Moon Brewing, Worthy Brewing,  Atlas Cider and Humm Kombucha.  Food carts will offer amazing lunch or dinner options and the Boys & Girls Club of Bend and Girls on the Run will raise funds by hosting a Charity Float for anyone wishing to use a tube to float the Deschutes.

A core mission of Cascade Relays is supporting local charities and school groups. This year Cascade Relays will contribute $50,000 to Central Oregon nonprofits and community groups in Bend, La Pine and Silver Lake.
