BMC Planning New Location in Bend Old Mill District

In an effort to meet the needs of the community, the Bend Memorial Clinic is opening a new location in the Old Mill District. The new clinic, which will be located at 815 SW Bond Street, will be the ninth BMC facility in Central Oregon. The new clinic will occupy 41,000 square feet of the existing 55,000 square foot building. It will share residency with The American Red Cross Oregon Mountain River Chapter and Century Insurance Group LLC.

Situated in the old LifeWise Health Plans of Oregon Bend office, the new clinic will expand on the offerings of their Mount Bachelor Drive location. It will house a new urgent care facility, pediatrics department and an allergist.

“When we looked at our community and see how and where it’s growing, the Old Mill location was a perfect fit,” explains Christy McLeod, chief marketing officer for BMC. “We wanted to bring our services to the community instead of the community coming to us.”

BMC regularly works with focus groups to devise ways to best meet patient’s needs. BMC has hired 22 new health-care providers over the last two years, with 12 of them coming in 2013.

“We’ve hired so many new doctors, this is more about adding space,” says McLeod.

The Mount Bachelor Drive location opened in 2006, but quickly outgrew the space due to increasing its patient base as well as health-care providers. The new location sits at the corner of SW Bond Street and SW Columbia Street, across from the Shops at the Old Mill. The Old Mill currently has no other plans to add additional health-care providers.

“The Old Mill District is a vibrant area of shopping, dining and entertainment,” says Old Mill District Marketing Director Noelle Fredland. “The new BMC location will fit perfectly here as it adds convenience to their clientele.”

“We searched for a new location for some time, but when we found the Old Mill site, we knew it would be a perfect spot.

BMC’s history dates back to 1946 and today is the largest multi-specialty clinic in Central Oregon. They offer 30 specialties, including cardiology, pediatrics and urgent care.

“Patients come to us because of our commitment to the community, says McLeod. “We add services based on the needs of the community. Our urgent care is a great example. As it got busier, we knew we had to grow it with this new location.”

The space is currently being remodeled to BMC specifications by Sunwest Builders. The estimated $3 million work is on schedule to be completed by late October.
