Cascades East Launches Summer Magazine

med_Pamelas_Mug_copy55Cascade Publications Inc., parent company of Cascades East, released its summer issue of the recreation and adventure magazine last month — and we’re celebrating because it’s no small feat to keep any small business going during these difficult economic times, but it’s especially gratifying to know that Central Oregonians are still reading, still looking for top quality magazines and newspapers. And so it seems they’ve welcomed Cascades East with an attitude.

Editor-in-Chief Jeff Martin and Managing Editor Valerie Clark have put together a great summer issue. Central Oregon’s premier outdoor recreation and adventure magazine embraces summer with a plethora of intriguing articles ranging from a survival story of a night lost in the woods and the thrills and chills of rock climbing on Mt. Washington to playing 36 holes at Black Butte Ranch and hands on instruction of stand-up paddle surfing.

Each issue of Cascades East aims to provide entertaining and educational articles, offering readers ideas on how to have fun, where to find an adventure and how to be safe doing it.  For example, an article on reaching the top of South Sisters from Jessie MacPherson tells you how to conquer the steep, long and rugged trail. Local fishing guru Gary Lewis brings the heat on high desert bass and Linden Gross shares how local eateries and markets can help you put together your moveable feast for a summer picnic.

The summer issue also takes a close look at adventure homestyles where Norman Building & Design created a home that reflects and complements the stunning natural beauty and dramatic vistas of Smith Rock while incorporating the adventure of rock climbing.

Casacades East is now available at all retail outlets and bookstores. 541/388-5665 or www.cascadeseast.com. PHA
