OnPoint Community Credit announced that a new charter expansion will allow it to move into Deschutes County, where it plans to open branches to better serve its existing member base. The charter expansion also means anyone who lives or works in Deschutes County will be eligible to join OnPoint.

“We believe the economy in Deschutes County is making a comeback, and we are happy to invest here,” said Rob Stuart, OnPoint CEO.  “Community members will be looking for financial services like auto loans, home loans and full-service savings and checking accounts, business services and more, and we want to be here to serve them.”

In addition, OnPoint has a number of members who live full-time in Deschutes County or have established second homes there.  While they often access OnPoint services online, many have been asking the credit union to expand its presence in their communities, Stuart said.

No date has been set for opening the first branch but Stuart said OnPoint currently is searching for convenient locations. In addition, OnPoint already has established programs with 10 local auto dealers to provide competitive, on-the-spot auto loans.

OnPoint Community Credit Union is the largest credit union in Oregon, serving more than 200,000 members with assets of $2.7 billion. Founded in 1932, OnPoint Community Credit Union’s membership is available to anyone who lives or works in one of eleven Oregon counties (Benton, Clackamas, Columbia, Deschutes, Lane, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Washington and Yamhill) and two Washington counties (Skamania and Clark).
