When an arsonist set downtown’s Trinity Episcopal Church and Trinity Hall ablaze in the spring of 2013, first on the scene were the brave firefighters ready to battle the fire. But, last on the scene, allowing the church to resume services and the hall to reopen the family kitchen and counseling services, was BELFOR Property Restoration. By early this year, both buildings were back up and running.

BELFOR is the largest disaster recovery and property restoration company in the world. They offer complete 24/7 emergency response services and pride themselves on being able to get things back to normal as soon as possible. Their services range from water extraction and hazardous materials cleanup to project management and consulting.

The company is independently-owned without franchises, thus ensuring quality control and consistency. Because they are one company, they have the ability to pull resources and experts from across the world. Their global scale allows them to work on large commercial losses as well as small residential projects. As a testament to their size and workmanship, the Federal Emergency Management Agency turns to BELFOR after large catastrophes.

“Our unmatched capacity helps ensure that the Bend area will have the resources needed in the event of a region-wide event, such as a flood, earthquake, or sudden dramatic freeze,” explains Jeff Stewart, general manager of the Bend office.

BELFOR has been in Central Oregon since 2010 and has six other Oregon offices. Stewart took over the Bend office in January of this year. He brought his nine years of property restoration experience back to Oregon from California, where he managed the Sacramento office.

Originally from Grants Pass, Stewart lives in Bend with his wife and eight children. The Bend office has five full-time employees and the ability to pull from the other Oregon offices if needed.

“The new management means BELFOR is here to stay, and here to be a part of the community,” says Stewart. “BELFOR is invested in providing the businesses and residence of Central Oregon with needed professional services in a time of need.”

BELFOR’s business model centers around, “Single Source Recovery Solutions,” meaning customers only have to make one call. While each loss is unique and requires a different action plan, BELFOR is able to provide multiple services customized for each property. The company’s sheer size, with more than 6,400 employees in 250 offices spanning 30 countries, allows them to quickly respond to any disaster.

In Central Oregon, BELFOR has dealt with mold abatement and remediation, lead abatement and asbestos abatement. They provide hazardous materials clean up, water or fire damage mitigation, drying and repairs. They also handle content cleaning, restoration, and storage solutions. If necessary, BELFOR can work with document remediation, cleaning and drying, as well as electronics cleaning.

“I believe the winter months are probably the busiest due to the inclement weather and freezing temperatures which cause frozen pipes and water damage to residential and commercial properties,” says Stewart.

For their efforts, BELFOR has received many awards and distinctions on a corporate level. Each year since 2001, they have placed number one on in the, “Top 500” in Qualified Remodeler Magazine. The Top 500 is a third-party verified ranking of the financial performance of North American remodeling companies.

“BELFOR is a one-stop property restoration company, able to handle the property restoration project cradle to grave, start to finish,” says Stewart. “We are the global leader in this industry, but BELFOR is also able to relate to life in a small community.”
