Bend International School (BIS) announce their recent approval from the Bend-La Pine School District as a K-8 Public Charter School, scheduled to open Fall 2015 on Bend’s east side (the exact location has not yet been determined). BIS is open to students of all backgrounds and seeks diversity within its student and staff population; including differences in language, race, ability, and economic levels. The school aims to promote diversity and respect for all people through an international and innovative curriculum with a focus on global competence.

According to BIS Director, Meera Rupp, “We have already received a lot of intent to enroll forms, but we still have openings in 1st, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. BIS will be holding an informational Community Meeting on Wednesday March 18 at 6pm at 2150 NE Studio Road for families to learn more about the program. Middle schoolers and their families are also encouraged to attend, as we will especially focus on the middle school program and what that will look like for the next three years.”

Please visit the school’s website at www.bendinternationalschool.org for more information about the program, or to contact the director with any questions. BIS wishes to thank the Bend-La Pine School District for their support and vote of confidence during the charter application process. We look forward to a strong partnership in serving all students of Central Oregon a world-class education.
