BrightSide Animal Center will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its founding with a special event at Centennial Park in downtown Redmond next month.

The 30th Anniversary Celebration and Street Fair will be held from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, October 7. It will feature vendors, children’s activities, raffles, food and beer – and of course, adoptable dogs.

BrightSide Animal Center was founded in 1987 as the Humane Society of Redmond and became a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 1989. The organization operates a high-save animal shelter at 1355 NE Hemlock Ave. in Redmond, a thrift store at Fifth Street and numerous bottles-and-cans collection trailers throughout Central Oregon. BrightSide is focused on reducing pet homelessness and euthanasia, through adoption placement, foster care and spay and neuter services to reduce pet overpopulation.

“We look forward to celebrating this milestone with this event in the heart of Redmond, a community that has been so generous to us over the years,” said Mark Crose, president of BrightSide Animal Center. “Thanks to the support of people, organizations and businesses in Redmond and throughout Central Oregon, we’re able to reunite lost pets with their owners, place animals in new homes and offer low-cost spay or neuter services.”
