Ponderosa Pine Pods
& New Wedding Venue

Cascade Street Distillery has created a unique gin drinking experience with the use of pine pods indigenous to Central Oregon. The American West style gin features Ponderosa Pine pods, juniper berries and sage. The combination delivers an unmistakably Central Oregon aroma to it.

“The reason we wanted to use Ponderosa Pines is we were trying to figure out that very distinct Central Oregon smell — which is the pine pods in spring,“ said Nick Beasley, owner of Cascade Street Distillery. “We wanted to take the essence of Central Oregon and put it in a bottle. And with Sisters being an old western outlaw town, we wanted to make this an American West style gin.”

South Sister Gin is a small-batch craft gin that delivers a unique blend of an exceptional citrus forward base and handpicked juniper berries, desert sage and Ponderosa Pine pods. Its botanicals include juniper, coriander, orris root, angelica root, cardamom, licorice root, grains of paradise and citrus peel. Sage gives a garden fresh bouquet with a hint of citrus; the pine pod’s sugary sap water creates a unique and intense pine flavor with a sweet citrusy aftertaste. The slight golden hue is the result of these all-natural ingredients sourced from Central Oregon’s high desert.

“A lot of non gin drinkers like this South Sister Gin,” said Beasley. “This comes from our pristine mountain spring water, which produces a delicious gin that is exceptionally well rounded.”

Founded in 2015 by brother and sister team Nick and Katie Beasley, Cascade Street Distillery is based in Sisters where the company produces its small-batch, handmade spirits. At the core of its spirits is Central Oregon’s mountain spring water, which is considered some of the best in the world.

“We chose Sisters, and specifically our newly regenerated barn turned distillery to truly capture the essence of Central Oregon,” explained Nick. “Our name, Cascade Street Distillery, came about because we wanted to locate our distillery, at the base of the Cascades, or otherwise known as the street of the mountains.

“Every craft spirit we create, we hope makes people feel as though they are in the crisp mountain environment, no matter where they are in the world. Although we are quite small now, we have big dreams and even bigger plans for the future.

“A wedding venue came into play after we purchased the old Barclay Barn, which was a community staple in Sisters for decades. After the barn was vacated for several years we wanted to bring a new life to the space, which we believe we have achieved. It’s always a pleasure to meet couples who have visited our tasting room in downtown Sisters, and shared with us that they were married near the barn and are happy to see it will live on.

“Currently our distillery has just finally finished with putting the reclaimed wood from the previous barn in as interior trim. The next steps are landscaping and planting our rye grass. We’ve begun to book weddings and events starting as early as January 2017 but we will be equipped to begin events toward the end of Summer 2016.

The craft distilling space will double as a venue for creative groups, memory seekers and those who want to tie the knot.
“On top of all that we have a gorgeous view of the Cascades,” adds Nick. “Central Oregon has been our family’s home and now we want to share it with the world.”
