The Leadership Bend Class of 2016 announce the five nonprofit organizations selected to compete for a $10,000 prize on May 10 at the second annual Central Oregon Impact Summit (COIS) “Pitch for a Purpose.”

The finalists are:
• Deschutes Children’s Foundation
• Healthy Beginnings
• High Desert Food and Farm
• La Pine Community Kitchen
• Treehouse Therapies

During the Pitch for a Purpose event, held at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes Convention Center, five finalists will take the stage and show off the culmination of how the COIS series of four workshops equipped them to better position themselves in our community.

“The knowledge gained at the COIS workshops has been invaluable,” states Deschutes Children’s Foundation’s application. “There is new energy and urgency among our participants. It’s as if we have become unstuck from our previous perspective and are now ready to share our story using new language and fresh approaches.”

While the judges tally their votes, the audience will be inspired by international rafting company owner, social entrepreneur, acclaimed author, successful real estate brokerage partner and community growth innovator, Ken Streater during his keynote address.

Beyond the $10,000 prize, a second nonprofit will receive $2,500 for an audience choice award.
