On Saturday, August 15 from 8am to 1pm the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, along with the Episcopal Church and Redemption House Ministries, are sponsoring the annual Crook County Great Clothing GiveAway. The event will take place in the Ochoco Valley Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints which is located at SE Second and Idlewood in Prineville.
This annual event is called the “Great Give Away” because, each summer, community members have been going thru their closets to find clean, quality, gently used clothing that others can use. An enormous quantity of clothing has been generously donated by residents, and the Clothes Encounters resale shop on Third St. in Prineville has also been a wonderful partner, donating additional items for the GiveAway each year.
This collaborative community effort of sharing and repurposing clothing helps preserve the environment while helping families fulfill clothing needs for the upcoming school year.
Items that cannot be donated include electronics, underwear, knickknacks, books, furniture, appliances, and media items.
Contributions are still being accepted for the GiveAway. Clothing for babies, boys, girls and men (shoes are especially needed this year) can still be donated.
It will be greatly appreciated if donations can be clean and mended; bagged or boxed and marked by gender & size if at all possible. Donations can be dropped off 12-8 pm Thursday August 13th and Friday August 14th only at the LDS Church located at SE 2nd and Idlewood in Prineville.
