After nearly 20 years in the clothing business, local owner expands by adding a footwear shop. Long-time Bend boutique clothing store founded by Joanne Sunnarborg, Desperado, is expanding this month with the addition of a new shoe store called Shoes & … by desperado.

The new store with a grand opening October 16 will be located adjacent to Desperado at 330 SW Powerhouse Drive in the Old Mill District. Shoes &… by desperado will offer a wide array of footwear and accessories at a variety of price points.

Noelle Fredland, marketing director for the Old Mill District, “Locally owned Desperado has added the flair and eclectic mix that women like to find when shopping in the district. It is wonderful to see the economic recovery fuel expansions and a thriving climate for small businesses.”

Two years ago Desperado rebranded its boutique. The store moved away from being a high-end western specialty store and created an experience that store owner and founder Joanne Sunnarborg says better meets customer’s needs. The new shoe store will follow the boutique’s lead in carrying fashion forward, trend setting lines, some with a unique bohemian flair. The new store will continue to offer all the boot lines that the company has become known for throughout the Pacific Northwest.

“We are truly excited to be opening a shoe and accessory store in the Old Mill District. It’s what our customers are asking for. It’s filling a niche of fashionable footwear and accessories that will be chic and comfortable,” says Sunnarborg.

Sunnarborg continued, “I want people to be able to wake up to snow and know they have footwear from my store that will get them down the driveway and will look great in the office too. And when you’re heading south in the middle of January, we’ll carry year-round great vacation footwear too.”

“Shoes &… by desperado” will have its grand opening along with its sister store’s 19th Anniversary with a Trunk Show Celebration on October 16-18. The Friday night kickoff party on October 16 will feature live music by local favorite Moon Mountain Ramblers. World-renowned custom boot maker, Tony Benattar of Liberty Boot Company, will be there for the event. Libations will be offered all weekend long.
