The Environmental Center will celebrate Earth Day by hosting its annual Earth Day Fair and Parade on Saturday, April 25. The annual community event, now in its 26th year, is a celebration of sustainable living that will include live music, local food, activities and games for children, non-profit organizations and green businesses.

The fair will be held on Kansas Avenue in front of The Environmental Center at 16 NW Kansas Avenue in downtown Bend from 11am to 3pm. This is a free event.

The annual Earth Day Parade will once again kick off the fair. This festive parade includes children and adults dressed in a costume of their favorite species or representation of the natural world. There are three parade rules: no written words, no motorized vehicles and no live pets. Various workshops will be held in preparation for the parade. All workshop information can be found at www.envirocenter.org

The parade will be held in downtown Bend with staging at 10:30am on Louisiana Avenue next to McMenamins. The parade will begin at 11am, winding through downtown Bend and ending at the Earth Day Fair on Kansas Avenue.

The Environmental Center’s mission is to embed sustainability into daily life. We translate sustainability into practical, local action in order to create a healthy future for people and the planet.

Our programs incorporate education and advocacy to advance our vision of a sustainable Central Oregon. They include: zero waste of materials, energy and water; advocating for a regional public transit system; youth education; advocating for and supporting sustainability initiatives by local governments and businesses, and operating a community campus that demonstrates sustainability in action.
