Effects of Marijuana on Sleep

The public attitude toward marijuana has never been more positive than in 2020. The characters in most popular tv-series and movies smoke weed, as it is not treated as something that will lead them astray. On the contrary – although the legal status of marijuana in many states has changed, we shouldn’t forget that it is still a drug. It means that it could have negative consequences on your body. Still, despite the possible danger to their health, many people smoke weed before they go to bed to battle their sleep problems. The studies have shown that weed can actually help people with sleeping issues. The research has shown that two of the most-studied compounds that are in marijuana – CBD and THC can help, though in different cases.

For people who have problems with staying asleep because of recurring nightmares, smoking some weed with a high amount of THC could be helpful. Why? The studies have shown that THC has a negative effect on the length of the REM phase. Normally it wouldn’t be considered a positive effect, but we experience dreams in the REM phase. It means that if you manage to shorten the length of the REM phase, you should be able to go through the night without waking up so frequently. It doesn’t mean that weed is a medicine without any negative effects – the REM phase is essential for the body. Unfortunately, if staying asleep is not possible, then people often try methods that aren’t perfect. Sleep with shorter REM phases is better than no sleep at all. If you have the opposite problem – for some reason, your REM phase is interrupted, then smoking weed that is rich in CBD could help you. Apart from those effects, marijuana is often used to help with the pain (strains rich in THC) and anxiety (strains rich in CBD).

Unfortunately, despite the change in the way the society looks at marijuana, there are still many companies that conduct drug tests to check whether their employees are not smoking marijuana. Luckily, technological progress means that not only can we order groceries without having to leave our homes – it is possible to cheat on drug tests as well. If you think that no matter how much water you drink, and how much time you spend working out at a gym, you won’t get rid of THC from your body, you could try QuickFix products.
