The Healing Reins mission is to heal with horses. Every day our dedicated volunteers and staff make that happen — through Therapeutic Horseback Riding and Carriage Driving classes, individual and group Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy sessions, physical therapy treatments and the Veterans Horsemanship program.

Our professionally certified instructors and caring therapists are extensively trained and knowledgeable, making every session enjoyable, efficient and effective for participants of all ages and abilities.

Through relationships with horses, we’ve seen first words and first steps happen at our center. We’ve seen young people learn to make healthy choices and walk away from addiction and anger. And we’ve given freedom, strength and mobility to people who thought their days of adventure were over. Our specially selected, trained program horses help families talk about tough issues, allow children with social anxiety to give and receive affection, and strengthen the bodies and minds of more than 1,400 Central Oregonians each and every year.

The therapeutic programs at Healing Reins offer children, teens, adults and whole families that safe place to address unique and special needs to improve quality of life. We are the only center of our- kind east of the Cascades in Oregon and clients, ages 4-94, are referred for specific services by medical and mental health professionals.

QUOTE:“I had a brain injury and am challenged with left hemisphere paralysis and speech aphasia. I utilize a wheelchair to get around. Therapeutic Carriage Driving gives me so much freedom! My strength and stamina have improved tremendously and I feel so much better about myself because Healing Reins is a place where people like me are accepted and treated with respect and dignity.” – Kim G.
