Fall programs focused on wild horses in the High Desert. Wild horses are regarded as an inspiration or curse. This fall, the High Desert Museum is partnering with the Pacific Wild Horse Club to present a series of public education programs and events that address the multi-faceted issues centered around wild horse and burro management on public lands.

Through Mustang Awareness Day, a field trip and several panel discussion presentations, these programs are designed to stimulate thoughtful conversations between stakeholders and provide in-depth information for developing solutions to the issues.

“Mustangs are symbols of freedom and the pioneer spirit here in the American West,” said Louise Shirley, Donald M. Kerr Curator of Natural History. “There are many people who are passionate on both sides of the issues surrounding mustang management on public land. The Museum is honored to provide a forum for these diverse interests to seek potential solutions.”
