The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) announced that Knife River Corporation-Northwest of Bend won a 2016 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction of an asphalt pavement. The company received its award today at a ceremony during the association’s 62nd Annual Meeting in Orlando.

Knife River Corporation-Northwest won the award for the complete reconstruction of runway 4/22 at Redmond Municipal Airport Runway. After removing the existing runway, the company replaced it with a five-inch base course that included thirty percent reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and then laid a 4-inch asphalt surface course. Crews worked around the clock for 14 days to reconstruct the intersection of runways 4/22 and 11/29.

Through excellent planning and execution, Knife River Corporation-Northwest produced a quality asphalt runway on time and within budget for the municipal airport.

The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) is the only trade association that exclusively represents the interests of the asphalt producer/contractor on the national level with Congress, government agencies and other national trade and business organizations.
