Shannon McMurchy is teaching three workshops on Myofascial Release at Bend Pilates. “Shannon brings a wealth of experience, both as a Pilates instructor and a movement healer; we are so excited about these three upcoming Myofascial Release workshops, and know our clients will benefit from her knowledge and passion for wellness,” said Bend Pilates Owner Debby Bowen.

McMurchy is certified in Yoga, Pilates, Feldenkrais and Craniosacral therapy. She has worked in the field of movement education and healing for more than 20 years in private practice, and as a Pilates-based rehab specialist at the world-renowned Dance Medicine Clinic at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital. McMurchy has also been a senior instructor and rehab specialist at EHS Pilates (San Francisco) for the past two years. She has joined Bend Pilates and is a passionate teacher who delights in helping people develop a more mindful and informed engagement within their own bodies. “Pilates is the most amazing form of movement you can experience,” says McMurchy, who enjoys working with a range of clients, from beginner to experienced. “As Pilates instructors, we want to educate and empower our clients to move pain free and unlock their full potential in every capacity.”

These workshops can be taken as a series or individually. Workshops include “Roots” on January 11, 2020 at noon, where attendees will learn techniques for releasing feet, ankles and lower legs, ITB and quadriceps. On February 8, 2020 at noon, “Trunk” will teach attendees how to explore techniques to release lower back, upper back and rib cage. Lastly, “Branches” will take place on March 7, 2020 at noon. In this workshop, attendees will learn techniques for releasing shoulders to fingers, hands, neck and jaw. Myofascial Release can be the missing link in relieving pain, muscular imbalances and thus increased performance.

Bend Pilates offers both equipment and mat classes in group and private settings, and its certified instructors are qualified to teach classical exercises or modify them as needed for individual clients. Bend Pilates offers a free 15-minute session for people who are interested in trying the method. Bend Pilates is conveniently located at 155 SW Century Drive on Bend’s west side.
