Locavore’s Second Annual Fall Harvest Feast

On Saturday, September 15, join fellow Bend foodies for the Second Annual Fall Harvest Feast at DD Ranch from 5-8pm. DD Ranch offers spectacular views of Smith Rock, and a variety of family farm activities.

This five course On-Farm Dinner will feature local seasonal fare like northwest cured meats and cheeses with Sparrow Bakery bread; roasted squash soup with crème fraiche and roasted Oregon hazelnuts; wilted kale and mustard greens salad with berry vinaigrette and pickled onion; slow-roasted apple cider brined pork shoulder in an apple cider molasses thyme pan sauce; salt roasted beet medley herbed, farro salad, grilled winter vegetables with bagna cauda; and Bonta gelato with spiced apple compote and Holmmade toffee for dessert. The menu is prepared by guest chef Kim Bast of Windy Bottom Farms, Lopez Island, San Juan Islands.

This year’s Fall Feast will also have a “Kiss the Pig” fundraiser benefiting Locavore’s purchase of a new, plastic-bag-reducing, misting produce fridge. Locavore celebrities Nicolle Timm-Branch (Founder and President of Locavore), Rockin’ Dave Flier (Rockin’ Dave’s Bagel Bistro and Backstage Lounge), James Gray (Locavore Marketplace Manager) and Sally Russell (Mayoral Candidate) will all be participating. Whoever has the most money donated in their name will kiss a pig at the Fall Feast.

The Fall Feast is proudly sponsored by DD Ranch, Rainshadow Organics, Rockin’ Dave’s Bagel Bistro & Backstage Lounge, Deschutes Brewery, Holmmade Toffee, Bonta Gelato, Oregon Green Products and Bethany’s Global Fusion.

Locavore’s On-Farm Dinners celebrate the bounty of Central Oregon’s ranches and farms in an authentic setting. Favorite local chefs bring their culinary expertise outdoors for unique dining experiences.

About DD Ranch
Located in beautiful Central Oregon, the DD Ranch provides access to ranch life as well as the stunning countryside setting of the Smith Rock area. Owners Mike Duggan, along with Jeff and Linda Anspach, offer memorable ranch adventures such as nature walks, field trips, hiking, access to hunting and more. Their Annual Pumpkin Patch and Country Christmas are popular events in Central Oregon. The DD Ranch also sells pork and grass-fed beef raised right on the Ranch.

About Chef Kim Bast
Chef Kim Bast was fortunate to grow up under the loving tutelage of many exceptional cooks and knew at an early age that her life’s focus would be food. She’s prepared meals at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, base camp on Mt. Rainier, and many fine kitchens in between. Kim lives with her husband and a bevy of animals at Windy Bottom Farm, where she’s discovered that growing food is as much fun as cooking it.

On-Farm Dinners benefit Central Oregon Locavore, a nonprofit organization that’s been promoting a local, sustainable food system in Central Oregon since 2010. Locavore is dedicated to improving access to fresh, in-season, nutrient-dense, local food and educating the community about the benefits of sustainably produced food from local farmers and ranchers. Proceeds from this event help promote a more ecologically and socially just food system, public health, and diversification of the local economy.
