Matthew Anton is a highly successful – and much sought after – marketing and business consultant. But it wasn’t always that way. Like many other successful marketers, Matthew started at the bottom and had to work his way up the hard way. Thanks to his experiences, he now understands the crucial link between marketing and entrepreneurship.

Take an Idea and Make it Work

Entrepreneurs start businesses from scratch. They take an idea and work with it until it becomes an embryonic business. Some entrepreneurs start multiple businesses; moving on once their ideas take root and become successful. For them, the pleasure comes from building a new business rather than working with an existing one. It’s a risk, but for anyone with true entrepreneurial spirit, it’s a risk worth taking.

Starting with Nothing

Matthew knows all about risk. He also knows all about starting with nothing. At the age of 25, Matthew was stuck in his parent’s basement, with no money and no future to speak of. He couldn’t continue with school because the money had run out and depression had set in. It was a difficult time for him, and for a while he couldn’t see a way out.

The Turning Point

The turning point came when his older brother, Dan, persuaded Matthew to join him in a marketing business and the two of them formed their company, NJSEO. It soon became apparent that

Matthew’s had a true entrepreneurial nature. He wasn’t afraid of taking risks. After all, he had already spent plenty of time staring at the walls, unable to move forward because of perceived obstacles in his way.

A Strong Stomach for Risk

As Matthew admits, entrepreneurs have to have a strong stomach for risk. The rest of the world might baulk at the level of risk an entrepreneur takes, but to be successful, you have no choice. Successful entrepreneurs look at their options and take the toughest road. Marketers are no different. Like entrepreneurs, marketers have to find new ways to doing things; they travel a road less well-known in search of new ideas and strategies. It’s all about risk, and unless you are willing to take some risks, you won’t ever set the world on fire.

The Only Way is Up

Today, Matthew Anton is a highly successful marketing consultant. He works with some of the top companies in the US, creating effective marketing strategies to boost their brand. But Matthew hasn’t forgotten his roots and he is keen to teach others how to make risk work for them. Alongside his marketing business, Matthew also works with fellow entrepreneurs, teaching them how to take an idea and take it in new directions. As he himself knows all too well, when you are staring into the abyss and you have nowhere else to go, why not just jump?
