Since moving to Sisters in 1994, Metabolic Maintenance has not only increased their exposure to the Central Oregon community, they’ve grown their staff from 25 to 40 full time employees and have introduced several new products. Tucked away on the westside of town across from the post office — Metabolic Maintenance is a true part of the Sisters landscape.

The company is an all-natural, nutritional supplement manufacturer that built its foundation on utilizing only pure and active ingredients, manufactured without preservatives, binders, fillers or added excipients. They pride themselves on producing products that are free of gluten, dairy, dyes or artificial sweeteners. Products are available locally at specified practitioner and healthcare offices, directly at the Sisters manufacturing facility and online. The website is easily navigable with pictures and descriptions of each product with up to date product and ingredient information for consumers and practitioners alike.

“Metabolic Maintenance manufactures our products based on the current good manufacturing practice cGMP (current good manufacturing practice) and purity is of the utmost importance when manufacturing our science-based formulas. We strongly believe that we are part of a solution to restoring health when addressing how and why illnesses occur, by offering high-quality professional nutritional supplements that address the root causes of individual conditions. We develop and work with practitioners when creating new formulas and understand that with rising costs of healthcare and insurance that we can offer an affordable option for prevention,” says Karla Cross-Green, director of marketing for the company.

In the last five years, Metabolic Maintenance was able to launch a second brand of nutraceuticals called MethylPro. The MethylPro brand allowed for Metabolic Maintenance to become a consumer facing company that saw rapid and significant growth. The next step was to purchase and remodel a new manufacturing facility and hire additional executive management and production talent, locally. This year, the owner’s daughter Kelly Fitzjarrell was promoted to president and is continuing the status of the oldest family owned company in the industry of professional nutritional supplements.

Coming up on its 35th anniversary in 2019, the company will be launching new innovative products targeting diabetic, cognitive and gut microbiome health and offering monthly promotions to celebrate throughout the year.

Keeping it Local

As all of us living and working in Central Oregon, Metabolic Maintenance is fortunate to live and manufacture in a community that is “…beaming with health and wellness professionals, world class athletes and families that strive for optimal health and longevity of life. Our pristine environment nurtures our values of creating products that are made from only pure active ingredients and lends to drawing in an educated pool of talent for us to hire from,” says Cross-Green.

The company has been very involved with the Sisters community for several years. They’ve been a Premier Sponsor to the Sisters Folk Festival for 20 years and has sponsored the Seed to Table garden that provides farm-based nutrition and science education to students of all ages and additionally provides fresh produce for school lunches and Central Oregon Food Banks for the past five years. Metabolic Maintenance offers scholarship through the Sisters Grow Foundation to a graduating Sisters high school senior, whose focus is going into health and wellness as a career.
