RE/MAX Key Properties Begins Construction on Downtown Bend Office Expansion

(Bend, OR – July 8, 2011) – Taking a big step to facilitate its continuing growth, RE/MAX Key Properties of Bend together with building owner Mill Street Square LLC began construction on its real estate office expansion project last week. Located at 431 NW Franklin Ave. in downtown Bend, the building will expand by 2,449 sq. ft. in office and flexible space to a total of 6,708 sq. ft. With a third of the existing building currently being demolished to accommodate the expansion, the project is expected to take four to five months.

“We’ve had great response to our downtown location,” said Bill Duffey, Principal Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Key Properties. “Our consumer exposure is so strong and access to the office is easy for clients. Put those factors together with the RE/MAX brand and more and more real estate brokers want to be here. After only being in this location a short while, we knew we had expansion needs.”

“The current building was challenging because it’s actually two structures. The street front two-story building works in today’s market, but the converted house at the rear of the structure just needed too many changes to function as a professional office,” said Mikel Lomsky, Mill Street Square LLC owner. “The best solution was to build new, continuing two stories back from the front building.”

The new office space will consist of fifteen offices and workspaces, three restrooms, conference room, copy/work area, break room/kitchen and about 1,600 sq. ft. of additional space for future office expansion. It is expected to accommodate more than thirty additional brokers. Additionally, there are considerations for a 600+ sq. ft. flexible space on the ground level to complement the RE/MAX office. The building’s plans were designed by Bend’s Darren Thomas Architect & Planning LLC. Local construction company, Blue Creek Northwest of Bend is facilitating the demolition and construction processes and will be employing numerous local subcontractors on the project. Completion is expected in late October.
