After a 28 year tenancy, Bend’s Red Oaks Square Project Manager Maxine Ribera-Card announced that the Bend-Fort Rock District headquarters for the Deschutes National Forest will be vacating its second story offices. The Bend-Fort Rock office will be relocating to the new U.S. Forest Service office building set to open on Deschutes Market Road in mid-November.

Red Oaks Square has been under continuous ownership since 1990. The owner, Oregon Fir

Supply Co., Inc. of Salem, has made substantial improvements to the project in the past two decades and more are pla1med with the Forest Service’s vacation of about 20,000 square feet.

According to Ribera-Card, “Oregon Fir intends to renovate the entirety of the vacated office area and also make additional improvements. Red Oaks Square was constructed circa 1970; the renovation is anticipated to update the buildings and incorporate green/sustainability upgrades.”

She added, “Initial estimates suggest the overall budget could exceed $1.0 million.”

Red Oaks Square is located at the northeast corner of Third and Marshall Streets. Current tenants, in addition to the Bend-Fort Rock Headquarters, include Oregon OSHA, the Oregon

Department of Rehabilitation, several doctors, private local businesses and Roszak’s Fish House Restaurant.

The remodeling effort is currently expected to begin in March or April of 2012. Ribera-Card indicated the building’s mechanical systems are currently being assessed before architectural plans for the renovation are developed.

COLM Commercial will be the exclusive leasing agent and are also located in the building and act as the project’s resident managers. Additional leasing information is expected later this year.
