U.S. Bank, through the U.S. Bancorp Foundation, recently donated to more than 26 non-profits in the Central & Eastern Oregon Region.

These grants were presented to non-profits that support community growth, economic revitalization, arts and cultural development, and educational services for our students.

“Our Central and Eastern Oregon communities have weathered some very tough economic times. In fact, in some cases, those who were previously donors of these non-profit agencies now find themselves on the receiving end of the critical services they provide.” says Stacey Dodson, Region President for U.S. Bank Central & Eastern Oregon.

Boys & Girls Club of Central Oregon received a $5,000 grant in support of their Project Learn program, which creates partnerships with schools to assist underachieving students with homework, grade improvement and helps families become more involved in their children’s education.

Bethlehem Inn, the largest homeless shelter in Central Oregon, was presented a grant check in the amount of $2,500 in support of their Families First Program. The programs focus is on services for homeless families. With this program, Bethlehem Inn can offer separate housing for children and their families with a communal family dining area, while guiding them through the process of attaining the resources needed to once again become self-sustaining.

Eastern Oregon Reading Foundation was the recipient of a $3,500 grant which will be used to provide books and activities to families in an effort to promote childhood literacy. These organizations, along with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Oregon, KIDS Center, Family Access Network, High Desert Museum, Arts Central, Newberry Habitat for Humanity and many more non-profit agencies that all received U.S. Bancorp support through the foundation’s grant program, provide essential services to our communities residents.

“This year, not only did our foundation provide tremendous support to a variety of non-profits, our employees, through our annual United Way workplace campaign, stepped up in a big way,” Dodson said. “In fact, more than 28 percent of our employees made donations, with total pledges to United Way increasing 45 percent, over last year. And, to make this even more remarkable, through our matching gift program, the U.S. Bancorp Foundation doubles our employee contributions to United Way and a variety of other non-profit organizations. It is our sincere hope that through our support, people in our communities will enjoy a more blessed holiday season.”
