The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HRSA) announced today that Mosaic Medical will receive a $650,000 grant to establish a new clinic in Redmond, Oregon. The “New Access Point” grants are awarded to non-profit community health centers for the delivery of primary care services for underserved and vulnerable populations.
“We are overjoyed to now be able to better serve the Redmond area,” said Mosaic Medical CEO, Megan Haase. “Our non-profit clinics in Bend, Prineville and Madras provide care to over 14,000 patients every year. Over 2000 of these patients live in Redmond, Sisters or Terrebonne and will be able to more easily access this new clinic.”
The HRSA New Access Point program requires a competitive grant proposal that demonstrates a high need in the community and shows that the organization is ready to quickly open a new site. Grantees have just 120 days to open a new clinic once the grant has been awarded. Mosaic Medical was one of five grant awardees in Oregon and the only awardee east of the Cascades.
“Mosaic Medical is committed to making accessible and affordable primary care available to every resident in Central Oregon,” said Madras and future Redmond Medical Director Dr. Martin Smart. “Transportation and travel time are significant barriers to many of our patients, including those in Redmond and the surrounding area. A Redmond clinic will help these patients and others who aren’t accessing care get the consistent, primary and preventative care they need.”
