Rotary Duck Race $1 Million Dollar Kick-Off

Local Rotarians kicked off the 23rd Annual Great Drake Park Duck Race today at the Deschutes Children’s Foundation Rosie Bareis Community Campus in Bend.

A special presentation was made to the 2011 Duck Race beneficiaries. Bend Community Center, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon, CORIL (Central Oregon Resources for Independent Living), Deschutes Children’s Foundation, KIDS Center, MountainStar Relief Nursery, Ronald McDonald House, Shots for Tots, and SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) were presented with a check in the amount of $79,429.

Since 1989 the Great Rotary Duck Race has donated over $932,991 to Central Oregon charities, all supporting children and families in need. The goal for 2012 is to surpass the one million dollar mark!

The 2012 charities will be iCon City, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon, KIDS Center, MountainStar Family Relief Nursery, Shots for Tots, Healing Reins, and Cascade Youth and Family Center.

This year’s event is scheduled for Sunday, September 9 at Drake Park with great thanks to the event sponsor Credit Unions Working Together: Mid Oregon, Northwest Community, OnPoint, Selco and Southern Oregon Federal.
