Why are you Voting for a Different House and / or Senate District?

0

The senate and house district boundary lines in Deschutes County changed significantly as a result of redistricting during the 2011 legislative session. If you are in an area where the boundaries changed, you will be voting on the house and senate district candidates as they take effect January 2013.

Maps of the new house and senate district are available online at www.deschutes.org/clerk under the headings “Elections” and then “Statistics and Maps.”

As a result of the County’s implementation of the State’s redistricting process, there are a reduced number of Deschutes County precincts (from 52 to 50). Precincts 51 and 52 were renamed to 22 and 23, respectively. Original precincts 22 and 23 were merged into precinct 10. Before redistricting, all of the City of Bend was in House District 54. Now, the northern precincts in the City of Bend are in House District 53.

For more information about the recent, please contact the Deschutes County Clerk’s office at (541) 388-6546.
