Rebound Physical Therapy, which has been at the forefront of orthopedic physical therapy, spine care and sports medicine in Central Oregon since 1995, recently added a new Biomechanics Lab and Physical Therapist and Rebound Excellence Project (R.E.P.) Biomechanics Lab Director Jay Dicharry to the practice.

Dicharry has established a national, even international reputation, for his biomechanical analysis as the former director of the SPEED Clinic at the University of Virginia. Dicharry has coached world record holders, he is the author of Anatomy for Runners, he has written columns for numerous national athletic magazines, and he’s published more than 20 professional journal articles as well as lectured on the topic around the world.

Now Dicharry has put his expertise to work to benefit the Central Oregon community with the new R.E.P. Biomechanics Lab in the Rebound West Clinic. The new clinic is available to anyone interested in improving their athletic performance – from elite to recreational athletes alike. His unique approach goes outside the traditional model of therapy and aims to correct imbalances before they affect performance.

“The new R.E.P. Biomechanics Lab not only provides an assessment on your current mechanics and what you should do to correct it, but it also provides a pathway and benchmark for where you need to be, which can be tremendously beneficial to athletes of all levels,” said Dicharry.

Dicharry is a certified coach through both the United States Track and Field Association and the United States Cycling Federation, and he has a competitive history in swimming, triathlon, cycling, and running events on both the local and national level, and has coached athletes from local standouts to national medalists.

Jay has been instrumental in footwear testing, validation and innovation in the industry, and consults for several brands including Saucony, Newton, Under Armour and Merrell, and he has also worked with Brooks and Mizuno in the past.

He has an active research career as he consults for numerous footwear companies, the US Air Force and USA Track and Field. His research focus on footwear and the causative factors driving overuse injury continues at Rebound where he provides his patients with an unmatched level of innovation on their path to success.

“I could not be more excited to share my passion with the Rebound team in Central Oregon,” said Dicharry. “I am also really enjoying exploring the Pacific Northwest with my family on knobbies, skis, boards and soles – it’s quite a beautiful place.”

Dicharry will be hosting several free lecture series throughout the next few months on a variety of topics, including the following:
