Bank of the Cascades Awards More Than $70,000 to Local Nonprofits

Bank of the Cascades employees have helped raise $70,000 to benefit Central Oregon nonprofits as part of an annual matching donation campaign sponsored by the Bank. Matching funds provided by the Bank doubled the employee donations of $34,000 for a total of $70,000 to benefit the local community. The workplace campaign matches every dollar of employee donations made either by payroll deduction or in a lump sum.

The Bank’s donations to the United Way of Deschutes County were designated to support 15 local nonprofit agencies including: Abilitree, Bethlehem Inn; CASA of Central Oregon; Cascade Youth and Family Center; Central Oregon Council on Aging; Crook County United Way Fund; Grandma’s House; Healthy Beginnings of the High Desert; Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center, Heart of Oregon Corps, KIDS Center; Mountain Star Family Relief Nursery; NeighborImpact; Saving Grace; and United Way of Deschutes County General Fund.

“We see United Way of Deschutes County’s mission as complementary to our own,” said President and CEO Terry Zink. “Just like we do, they focus and direct their efforts on local causes that benefit Central Oregonians. This approach is part of the reason we decided to make them one of the major recipients for our community giving campaigns. It’s just one more way for us to say that we “choose community.”
Bank of the Cascades participates annually in the United Way fundraising campaign, appointing Bank United Way representatives and hosting meetings to ensure that as many employees as possible can attend.

The Bank’s Idaho team also raised more than $30,000 with $15,000 from employees that was also matched by the Bank to benefit the Treasure Valley communities.
