Structural engineering firm with a rapidly-growing Bend office has been selected to design structural improvements to improve the safety of Navy living quarters located at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia.
The work is part of a $20 million task order to complete the design, construction and renovation of the Bachelor Quarters facilities – three 1939-era reinforced concrete framed buildings with unreinforced brick masonry façades targeted for upgrades, including improvements defined under the Department of Defense Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) program.
The $20,195,000 firm-fixed-price task-order for the design-build project was awarded to a joint venture (JV) partnership between DPR Hardin Construction Company, LLC and Whitesell-Green Inc. by Naval Facilities Command Mid-Atlantic under a $750M multiple-award construction contract.
Tobolski Watkins was selected by the JV partners to perform structural evaluations on the existing facilities, design as-needed structural and seismic retrofits and design structural modifications for the renovation and expansion. Additionally, Tobolski Watkins will serve as the ATFP consultant for the design-build program.
