Globally Celebrated Authors & Activists Will Stand Together At MUSE Women’s Conference

The 2nd annual MUSE Women’s Conference returns to Bend, March 7–9 to inspire, connect and celebrate women and girls as catalysts for positive change.

The 2014 conference will feature keynote speakers Zainab Salbi, Amy Richards and Lynne Twist.

 
• Founder of Women to Women International, Zainab Salbi was named by Newsweek and The Daily Beast as one of the “100 Extraordinary Women who Shake the World” and was identified by the Economist Intelligence Unit as one of the most inspirational women in the world.

 
• Amy Richards, author and co-founder of the Third Wave Organization was a consulting producer on the HBO documentary Gloria Steinem: In Her Own Words and an advisor to PBS documentary on the women’s movement in America, MAKERS: Women Making America. 

 
• For more than 40 years, Lynne Twist has been a recognized global visionary committed to alleviating poverty and hunger and supporting social justice and environmental sustainability. The compelling stories and insights gained from her experiences inspired Lynne to write her best-selling, award-winning book “The Soul of Money: Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Life.”

 
“We are thrilled to bring these amazing change makers to Bend,” said Amanda Stuermer, event founder, “we are equally excited to celebrate many of the incredible women inspiring change right here in our local community.”

The event will also include a First Friday Community Art Exhibit; a full day of panel discussions, live performances, and speakers at The Tower Theatre in downtown Bend; a reception and private dinner; and various breakout workshops facilitated by conference speakers as well as local leaders, activists, and artists. Tickets to the Muse Women’s Conference will go on sale January 1, 2014. The World Muse, a non-profit based in Bend, Oregon, is hosting the event as part of its mission to inspire women and girls worldwide to be catalysts for change.

MUSE CONFERENCE: A three-day
 conference designed to inspire, support, and celebrate women creating positive change in their own lives, their communities, and in the world. Muse Conference features art exhibits, 
live performances, panel discussions, keynote speakers, and breakout workshops.

MUSE CAMP: A three-day women’s retreat that offers women and girls the opportunity to work directly with local and global leaders, teachers, activists and artists to both inspire and ignite action.

MUSE MAKERS: A program that invests in women and girls, facilitating the development of inspiration into action. We offer small seed grants and mentoring opportunities to those who are ready to create their own social change projects.

TEEN MUSE: In-school, after-school, and summer camp programs combining yoga, creative arts, group dialogue, and service projects to promote self-awareness, self-expression, and self-esteem. We also offer a facilitator training program providing educational and leadership tools to youth advocates.
