CEO of Brooks Resources Corporation receives award for his entrepreneurial and civic leadership benefiting the State of Oregon.

Willamette University’s Atkinson Graduate School of Management selected Mike Hollern as its annual Glenn L. Jackson Leadership Award recipient. The award was created 30 years ago by the university to recognize extraordinary entrepreneurial and civic leadership benefiting the State of Oregon. Hollern, who has served as chairman of Brooks Resources Corporation since 1968, was selected due to his positive impact on the growth of the Central Oregon region. Only one recipient per year from the entire state of Oregon is selected for this honor.

After helping to found Brooks Resources Corporation in the late ’60s, Hollern has had a large influence on the region over the last 40 plus years. Hollern guided Brooks Resources through the fat and thin years of the real estate industry, creating such memorable places and communities as Black Butte Ranch, North Rim, Awbrey Butte and NorthWest Crossing. He has also helped to shape a company whose name has become synonymous with community support. His vision is apparent throughout the community and has positively influenced issues such as transportation, education, economic development and cultural resources.

Hollern is also the former chair of the Oregon Transportation Committee Regional Solutions Team (appointed by Governor Goldschmidt); former chair of a statewide committee focused on economic development (appointed by Governor Kitzhaber); a member of the Oregon Business Commission; and a member of the Oregon State University Cascades Board of Advisors.

This award seeks to recognize public and private leadership in the tradition of the late Glenn L. Jackson, a true Oregonian, who served as Chairman of Pacific Power and Light (now, PacifiCorp), Chairman of the Oregon Transportation Commission and owner of several entrepreneurial enterprises. Glenn L. Jackson believed in making the right thing happen for Oregon and had the capacity and drive to get things done. He serves as a civic leadership model for all Oregonians.
