As part of the 2013 AIA Southwest Washington’s Design Awards held November 7, BLRB Architects received four awards and recognitions: a Citation Award for the 415 East Urban Infill Feasibility Study; recognitions for Baker Middle School in Tacoma, Washington; Helen Keller Elementary in Kirkland, Washington; and Sumner K-8 Campus in Sumner, Washington.

The 415 East project, located in the Tacoma Dome District, was developed through a collaborative process with Pierce Transit and Tacoma Housing Authority. The building’s programming envisions a mix of market-rate and affordable housing, retail and café spaces, shared interior areas, outdoors patio, green roof, lofted library, community meeting rooms and a fitness center.

The AIA Design Awards celebrate the best architectural designs available and represent the finest standards in sustainability, innovation, building performance and overall integration with client and surrounding community.
