30,000 Square Foot Plant on 60 Acres Aims to Continue Strategic Expansion

Bullet and ammunition maker Nosler, Inc. is up and running at a newly completed 30,000 square foot facility on 60 acres the company purchased near Redmond Airport — with the ability to retain the flagship firm’s growth within Central Oregon heralded by economic development leaders as a major coup for the region.

The company had multiple sites opportunities in the Pacific Northwest and beyond to expand on its Bend base of operations, primarily to accommodate growth spurred by its acquisition of Washington-based Silver State Amory (SSA) but opted to stay in the area.

The new Redmond facility will primarily cater to ammunition and cartridge brass operations, which is expected to add approximately 20 jobs in manufacturing and supervisory positions.

Nosler, Inc. CEO Bob Nosler said: “The company was growing at a pace that would have exceeded the available space at the Bend site within a relatively short time period.

“We are Central Oregonians and worked for nearly a year with our local economic development agencies to keep this company operating in Central Oregon.”

The acquisition of SSA continued Nosler’s strategy of delivering exceptional products for the shooting sports, with company leaders seeing the addition of SSA’s products and manufacturing capacity as an important step toward the goal of providing customers with a reliable source for high demand ammunition products.

“The Silver State acquisition provides a strategic opportunity for Nosler to increase capacity at a unique time in the history of our industry,” added Nosler. SSA customers included law enforcement, security agencies, hunters and military forces.

“It’s been an exciting opportunity to work with and earn the investment from such a long standing and reputable company, like Nosler,” said Jon Stark, Economic Development for Central Oregon (EDCO’s) local manager for Redmond Economic Development, Inc. (REDI).

“Time was well spent selecting the right site, leveraging state, county and community incentives to grow their operations here and Nosler is a great addition to the growing list of companies currently operating within this industry cluster here in Redmond.”

Nosler has relocated some of its Bend manufacturing space and refurbished former SSA assets to the Redmond SW Sixth Street location in an area where road and other infrastructure improvements were undertaken, with the help of City and State development funds, and the new facility will add substantially to the city’s tax base.

Founded in 1948 in Ashland, Oregon, Nosler moved its operations to Bend in 1958 where it has been a growing part of the community ever since. The Company is known by sportsmen and women as well as competitors around the world for their high quality bullets, cartridge brass, hunting rifles and ammunition.

The name Nosler actually applies to a number of companies involved in the manufacture of ammunition and loading components, specializing in high performance hollow point and soft point hunting bullets.

Current companies include Nosler, Inc., Nosler Custom and Nosler Reloading. Nosler’s contributions include both new bullet designs and new manufacturing techniques used in their production.

Founded in 1948, Nosler, Incorporated is a family-owned company located in Bend.
