September 18-20, three great events in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act. From Steens Mountain to the Oregon Badlands, some of Oregon’s most treasured places will remain protected for future generations because of the federal Wilderness Act, passed in September 1964. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Oregon Natural Desert Association putting on Wilderness Weekend, offering the public three great ways to get involved.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 18: Wild & Scenic Film Festival.
The best adventure and conservation films of the year come on tour to Bend. Sponsored by E2 Solar and Worthy Brewing.
WHEN: Doors open at 6 p.m., event begins at 7 p.m.

FRIDAY& SATURDAY, SEPT. 19-20: Desert Conference.
From exploration to conservation, Desert Conference offers a deeper understanding of Oregon’s high desert. Speakers, panel discussions and hikes with top-notch scientists, artists, historians and others will offer insight, ranging from how to get out in the desert to the future of the Greater sage-grouse. Registration includes an all-access pass to all keynote speakers, panel sessions, hikes and Desert Conference activities. Let’s get wild! For Wilderness Weekend’s grand finale, we’re inviting everyone from conference attendees to community members to gather for a celebration in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act. Enjoy live music from Truck Stop Gravy, Pitchfork Revolution and Wilderness, as well as local food, activities and beverages.
