As Oregon State University – Cascades creates a long range development plan for its new campus over the next year and a half, it will consider input of four advisory groups recently formed to build on the work of the Campus Expansion Advisory Committee task forces and provide expertise and insight to campus leaders in the areas of arts, culture and enrichment; community integration; sustainability; and health and wellness.
Over the next two months, starting with a joint orientation meeting today from 6-8pm each group will work in facilitated sessions to develop a vision, set priorities and develop recommendations for campus leadership.
The final recommendations will be used as guiding principles by an architecture and engineering design team to create a long range development plan for the expanded campus beyond the initial 10-acre site. The long range development plan is anticipated to be complete by early summer 2017. Input from members of the advisory groups, as well as members of the public, will be sought at key stages in the creation of the long range development plan.
Kelly Sparks, OSU-Cascades associate vice president for finance and strategic planning said, “These continued community conversations are essential in informing the process to develop a university campus that fits with the values and vision of Bend and our region.”
University officials are also planning a series of public discussions with potential design teams to take place this winter.
In their meeting today, the advisory groups will build on the work of the CEAC task forces and inform the long range planning effort, with insight on real life solutions for a net zero campus; a common understanding of neighborhood livability around the future campus, how the campus can advance arts, culture and enrichment in the region and an enhancement of wellness within the student and broader communities.
The advisory groups include individuals with relevant experience and expertise, as well as former members of the CEAC task forces. Among the groups’ members are:

About OSU-Cascades: Located in Bend, Ore., Oregon State University’s branch campus features outstanding faculty in degree programs that reflect Central Oregon’s vibrant economy and abundant natural resources.
