Electric Vehicles are happening. They’re not just the future of driving—they are hitting the road in record numbers all over the world right now and Oregon has an opportunity to be behind the wheel, helping to drive this transformation. Oregon already ranks fifth in the nation, per capita, for the number of plug-in vehicles with more than 16,000 registered EVs. But we have goals to go even further.

Join The Environmental Center as they explore Oregon’s goal to get 50,000 EVs on the road by 2020. How are we going to get there? With the support of statewide incentive programs, investments in charging infrastructure, utility and fleet partnerships, and boots on the ground work in local communities to increase awareness and education. Come learn how this goal translates to making EVs even more accessible and what programs are happening at the local level to get you plugged into the EV market (hint: it includes some really great deals and opportunities to get all your EV questions answered!).

This will be an engaging session for electric vehicle enthusiasts who want to plug into how the market is changing around the state and see what new resources are in the pipeline as well as those who are just getting started determining whether an electric vehicle is right for you and your business.

Our expert panelists will be joining us from the Oregon Department of Energy and Forth. Jessica Reichers leads the policy team for the Oregon Department of Energy in their work in transportation, energy resiliency, renewable energy, and climate mitigation and adaptation efforts. Her team is responsible for leading Governor Brown’s Zero Emissions Vehicle Interagency Working Group. Kelly Yearick is a Program Manager at Forth where she facilitates utility engagement, consumer outreach to promote electric vehicle adoption, and manages programs related the Oregon Clean Fuels Program to design and implement transportation electrification projects with utilities across Oregon.

Doors open in Mountain Room at Deschutes Brewery at 5pm to network and grab a beer. The panel discussion will run from 5:30-6:30pm. Other beverages will be available for purchase at the bar.

Power Hour is a new educational series, launched by The Environmental Center, that will take a deep-dive into various topics every other month. Each event will be an informational networking meet-up with a panel of experts to help ignite new conversations in the community. This is a bi-monthly series with events in February, April, June, August, October and December from 5-7pm. Panel discussions will run from 5:30-6:30pm. Come early to network and grab a beer!
