Funds will benefit East Cascades Works and support skilled trade professionals in Central Oregon

R&H Construction, one of the Northwest’s leading commercial construction companies, announced more than $15,000 has been raised for East Cascades Works through the company’s benefit event, Endless Summer Nights. The funds raised for the nonprofit will go towards providing Central Oregon residents with access to education and training that will ultimately lead to living wage career opportunities in the skilled trades.

“We couldn’t be happier to support East Cascades Works through this event and are thrilled that this year’s fundraising total exceed $15,000,” said Gary North, vice president of R&H Construction. “East Cascades Works not only helps individuals find careers in the trades, but also ensures that businesses like R&H find qualified talent to help us serve the Central Oregon community.”

With more than 30 Central Oregon-based businesses as contributing sponsors, the fundraising event held on September 8, 2018, included a new feature this year: Cycle Pub obstacle races between participating business sponsors. These teams rode seven person cycle pubs through a course with obstacles mirroring everyday tasks that those in the skilled trades would complete including measuring wood beams, identifying the right tool for the job and cleaning up construction debris.

“Endless Summer Nights was an amazing opportunity to raise vital funds to support the launch of a construction industry boot camp that will help prepare Central Oregonians to enter the construction industry,” said Heather Ficht, executive director of East Cascades Works. “These funds help support living wage and high demand jobs in the Central Oregon region.”

East Cascades Works is a Bend-based non-profit organization that aims to provide high quality workforce services to local job seekers and business customers, including R&H Construction.

With offices in both Portland and Central Oregon, R&H is always seeking exceptional industry talent and is committed to giving back to the local communities it serves. Over the last year, R&H partnered with the Ronald McDonald House of Central Oregon, Saving Grace and The Giving Plate on service projects within the community. R&H employees are especially passionate about providing exposure for local youth to the many opportunities a career in the trades can provide.
