Tax-Aide Helps Central Oregon File Taxes for Free

United Way of Deschutes County, CASH Oregon, & AARP are providing free, in-person tax preparation assistance in most Central Oregon communities again this tax season. Tax-Aide is open to taxpayers of all ages and backgrounds and is provided by local volunteers who are well-trained and IRS-certified.

Free tax preparation services will run from February 1st – April 17th at the following locations in Bend, Redmond, Prineville, and Warm Springs. Some sites are open weekdays, others on weekends; some are walk-in locations, while others require an appointment. Those accessing Tax-Aide services should bring the following: identification, income tax statements (such as W2s and 1099s), Form 1095-A if purchased health insurance through the Marketplace, tax-deductible expenses, and bank account and routing numbers.

BEND

Last year, in Central Oregon, 2,200 returns were prepared for free through Tax-Aide, resulting in $2.1 million in refunds. Many of those who accessed Tax-Aide last year had average incomes of less than $25,000. The refunds averaged $1,000. And, many accessed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit.
