Do you have a child ages 8 – 15 that loves playing in the water? Start them off kayaking or stand up paddleboarding at a young age and they will have the skills they need to succeed at some of the most enjoyable water sports around.
Whether they want to try whitewater kayaking for the first time, or explore some of Central Oregon’s most pristine waterways by stand up paddleboard, Tumalo Creek’s got an awesome selection of four-day camps offered through August that are sure to fit your child’s interest and ability level, all for an affordable $395.

Whitewater Kayak Camp
If they dream of whitewater, our Kids Whitewater Camp is offered July 6 – 9, August 3 – 6 and August 24 – 27. Paddlers will practice their roll in an outdoor pool and then move onto stroke technique and reading currents right here on the Deschutes or up at Elk Lake. The last day, kids who are ready will be challenged to run a manageable Class II section of a nearby river. (Ages 10 – 15)

Yak-A-Tak Flatwater Camp
For kids who just can’t decide, Tumalo Creek offers a paddlesports adventure week, which includes stand up paddleboarding on Elk Lake, kayaking on the Deschutes River, rafting on the McKenzie River and learning to sail with our Hobie Adventure Island trimarans on Elk Lake.

Your child will learn about cooperation and team building in an active and engaged environment, while gaining a greater appreciation for all that Central Oregon has to offer. (Ages 8 – 15)

The sessions run from 9am–4pm Monday – Thursday. Daily destinations will depend on the camp and the ability level of the paddlers. Tumalo Creek will provide all transportation and gear, but students should pack a lunch and lots of healthy snacks. See website for suggested clothing.
