Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades (VIM) provides healthcare on a donation basis to low-income, medically uninsured adults who live throughout Central Oregon.

We are unique in that we draw on talent, experience and goodwill from more than 300 volunteers to provide primary and specialty care, mental health care, prescriptions and eye exams to our patients.

Our volunteers are active and retired doctors, nurses, school teachers, attorneys, students, physician assistants, soccer moms, and professionals, just to name a few.

Since 2004, we have provided care to nearly 8,000 low-income, medically uninsured adults.

When the Affordable Care Act (ACA) went into effect in January, 2014, the general assumption was that everyone would have access to healthcare. But that’s not true.

In Central Oregon, it is estimated that 6,000 working adults remain uninsured mostly because they don’t meet the qualifications for ACA programs. These are the people that we serve.

Our work is the catalyst for so many good things.

By joining us as a volunteer or donor, you will not only change the life of one person, you’ll have an impact on the whole family; when the breadwinner is healthy, everyone in the family benefits.

The gratitude expressed by our patients is profound. They know what a gift it is to have healthcare, and their appreciation is one of the things that fuels each and every one of us on a daily basis.

If you’re looking to make a difference, VIM is the place for you. We invite you to join others who give from their hearts to make our community a better place for all. You’ll be happy you did.
