Watershed Summit Coming to Central Oregon

The Upper Deschutes Watershed Council in partnership with the Children’s Forest of Central Oregon and others, will host a Watershed Summit on May 26 from 10am-2pm at Eagle Crest Resort. The Watershed Summit is titled Students Speak: A Watershed Summit and is all about empowering local students to share their watershed projects in their own words.

The Watershed Summit has been a very successful event in the past and a great opportunity for others to learn how students have become active stewards of their watershed.

“In its eighth year, we are coordinating Students Speak: A Watershed Summit for local students to share their watershed projects in art, writing, music, science, and stewardship. The Upper Deschutes Watershed Council conceived of the Watershed Summit format in order to give local students the stage and celebrate the creative ways children connect to the natural world,” shared Kolleen Miller, education director for the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council.

The summit is presented in partnership with the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, the Clabough Foundation, the Children’s Forest of Central Oregon and The Roundhouse Foundation. This year’s event was partially funded by an Environmental Protection Agency Education Local Grant received by the Children’s Forest of Central Oregon for 2016 and 2017.
