The summer of 2025 brings unprecedented traffic to Culver. With construction of a new skate park, school remodels, a sewer upgrade project and the early phases of a master planned community of 162 new homes, plus the nearly 70,000 people that visit Cove Palisades Park / Lake Billy Chinook … there will be a record-breaking number of hungry and thirsty people looking for meals, refreshments and entertainment.

That’s where the long-awaited Shorty’s Taphouse comes in. Owners Diane and Heather Kenyon have championed this business since 2022 and are anticipating the opening in early Summer.

“We’re excited to keep moving forward,” she says. “We will have indoor and outdoor seating, 16 taps with beer, wine and cider and serve Pepsi products.   Watch for live music, outdoor movie night, trivia night, bingo and many more activities in our community.”

“What we need right now are food trucks,” Kenyon says. “We understand it could be a leap to give up a stable space in Redmond or Bend, but why not expand? We’re offering a great opportunity for up to 6 food truck owners to join us in Culver, possibly in addition to what they already have.”

Kenyon is working with state economic development leaders to weigh incentives and suggest resources for lending, employment and training to get businesses to relocate or expand to the Culver area.
