High Lakes Healthcare has opened a new Urgent Care center on Shevlin Park Road near their primary care clinic. High Lakes Urgent Care is designed to treat common illnesses and injuries on a walk-in basis with no appointment necessary.

Patients have the luxury of checking online to see the wait time for the urgent care and reserve an appointment to come in at their convenience.

The clinic will be open extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays to allow patients easy access to care when they need it most.

“The way people consume healthcare has changed over the years. For routine preventative care, most people don’t mind making an appointment and having it on their calendar. But more and more, as injury and illness strike, people want the ability to get it handled right away by people they already know and trust,” said Jeff Caba, director, High Lakes Urgent Care.

Urgent Care Centers have steadily grown in popularity since 2007 and earlier this year, Forbes magazine calculated the Urgent Care industry as around $18 billion dollars and expected to go an additional six percent in 2018. This makes sense as healthcare focuses more on population health and value-based initiatives to keep acute episodes from developing into more serious
health conditions.

“As Bend continues to grow, we see people wanting to get the care they need closer to where they live, work and play,” said Caba. “Traditionally people would make a special trip to an area of town they don’t normally go to — like a medical zone — to get care. But now, people expect the care to fit into their daily lives, so they can get the treatment they need and get back into action as quickly as possible.”

High Lakes Urgent Care will treat most common injuries and illnesses including, but not limited to:
• Cold and flu
• Sore throat and cough
• Sprains, strains and fractures
• Cuts, wounds and burns
• Headaches
• Nausea and vomiting
• Urinary tract infections
• Sexually transmitted diseases
• Allergy, asthma and rashes
• Respiratory illness

In addition, High Lakes Urgent Care will have the ability to do some lab work on site and has partnered with The Center to provide imaging services to patients.
