KPOV, High Desert Community Radio, will broadcast the 21st annual National Homelessness Marathon from 9:30am until 6pm Thursday, July 24 on 88.9 FM or kpov.org.

The Homelessness Marathon is the only national broadcast to focus on homelessness and poverty. This almost entirely live broadcast will discuss a raft of topics pertaining to homelessness. The annual Marathon features live reports, interviews with advocates and experts, and calls from listeners all over the country.

The Homelessness Marathon’s mission is to raise consciousness about homelessness and poverty in America and around the world.  Above all, the program centers the voices of homeless people talking about their real circumstances, obstacles and potential solutions.

Organizers hope the marathon can help to ignite a national dialog about what needs to be done to end homelessness. The state of homelessness, poverty and what is and can be done to prevent both will also be examined in a variety of accounts.

KPOV is the only media outlet in Central Oregon to broadcast the 21st Annual Homelessness Marathon, which originates from Boston this year and is made available to KPOV through the Pacifica Radio Network.
