K9Herbalist, a Bend-based company, is a full service mobile holistic pet care company offering a full spectrum approach to optimizing overall pet health and well being through traditional holistic values. Owner Goldie Berencsi accomplishes this feat by assisting her clients to build a platform of health through an array of dietary and holistic modalities.
Berencsi is a licensed holistic pet practitioner and has a passion for botanicals and pain management that stretches back many years. “I originally founded K9Herbalist in 2008 as a natural outgrowth of caring for and treating my own dogs,” Berencsi says.
In 2007 her Westie passed from bladder carcinoma cancer. The loss inspired her to seek further alternative approaches to preventative care. A primary distinction between her service and more traditional veterinarian methods is that she focuses on strengthening the immune system while treating the underlying condition and not the just the symptoms.
K9 Herbalist offers a wide range of services catering to specific pet needs.
1.) Three levels of canine massage are offered. The Basic massage uses subtle movements to release restrictions of the central nervous system. The Therapeutic massage focuses on specific trigger points to release holding patterns in the fascia of the muscle. The Transitional massage offers support and guidance to owner and pet through the end of life with a holistic and comprehensive approach.
Berencsi also offers one-hour individual private sessions on the fundamentals of pet massage.
2.) Nutritional and wellness health consultations are customizable based on the pets’ ailments. They are designed to empower a pet owner to build and support their pets’ health through diet and veterinary-grade botanicals.
3.) Professional home care and pet sitting offers care for the pet and home while owner’s are traveling. For those who do not want to board their pet Berencsi is there to keep pets loved, happy, and healthy while owner’s are away. The service includes administration of medications if needed, a complimentary canine massage, two walks per day and an activity report.
In many ways, the inspiration for Berencsi’s innovative company can be traced back to her upbringing. She grew up on a farm where her family lived off the land and harvested edible plants and natural remedies. It was this combination of farm lifestyle and consistent interaction with the farm’s creatures that gave rise to her passion for medicinal herbs as well as animals.
Berencsi is a 2014 graduate of Science and Research, The Cannabis Health Revolution online course study, a 2011 graduate of Pet Massage Training and Research Institute in Toledo, Ohio and a 2007 NST Institute Certified Herbalist/Aromatherapist. She also works closely with several humane organizations in rescue.
Berencsi has several success stories where dogs came to her with various ailments and through her customized treatment plans they are now happy and healthy with their loving and caring families.

In addition to operating K9Herbalist, Berencsi is part of a growing movement to create a line of medical therapeutic cannabis products for pets. Her new company and sister affiliate is called Healing Without the High and was founded in 2014. The company is currently a research and development program which operates under Berencsi’s OMMP license to offer a product line of rigorously formulated lab-tested tinctures, salves and therapeutic treats as government legislation allows.
The company’s mission focuses on the development of a safer course of treatment through the implementation of cannabis herbal products for pets. With many pet owners utilizing alternative medication, Berencsi envisions providing safe and effective preventative measures for healthy pets while reducing pain and suffering.
Healing Without the High is also the title of Berencsi’s forthcoming book which is slated for a late 2015 release and will provide pet owners a definitive guide to safely create and administer holistic natural treatments and medical cannabis herbal products for their pets.
Proceeds from the book will support The Gold Path Project which is the research and development program within Healing Without the High. The program is currently accepting pet owners interested in seeking alternative therapies through clinical trials and studies.
The Gold Path project is primarily funded through donations.
