Latino Community Association welcomes new U.S. citizens from diverse cultures. Immigration and Naturalization authorities will attend the September 13 Festival of Cultures and officially administer the citizenship oath to new American citizens at Redmond’s Centennial Park.

The annual ceremony is part of Central Oregon’s premier multi–‐cultural event that expects to draw some 1,500 guests. The Festival of Cultures is organized and produced by the Latino Community Association (LCA). Executive Director Brad Porterfield says this year’s event will continue a rich tradition of showcasing Central Oregon diversity. “In addition to the incredibly moving citizenship ceremony, our event includes music, dance, great food, handicrafts and a peak into our region’s growing ethnic diversity,” says Porterfield.

This year’s ceremony will feature local business legend Bob Eberhard, of Eberhard’s Dairy, speaking about his parents’ immigration experience. Booths, displays, family fun, and beer and wine are all part of the event’s unique spirit. The citizenship ceremony takes place at 10:00am, followed by a day–‐long parade of cultural performances from countries like Russia, Hawaii and Mexico. The event concludes at 5:00pm. The festival is free and family/pet friendly.
