KPOV High Desert Community Radio first went on the air June 26, 2005. For more than 20 years, KPOV has been a trusted and vibrant voice for Central Oregon, delivering local news, arts and entertainment to the community. Our mission is to provide radio by the people and for the people of Central Oregon, strengthening community, arts, culture and democracy through independent, non-commercial radio.

Located at 88.9 FM and broadcasting from Bend, KPOV is listener-supported, volunteer-powered independent, nonprofit community radio. More than 100 volunteers contribute their time to our wide-ranging and eclectic music and talk programming to keep us running 24/7/365. Listen live, check out our app or anytime, anywhere by streaming at kpov.org.

KPOV’s signal reaches Bend, Sisters, Redmond, Terrebonne, Prineville, La Pine and beyond to rural Central Oregon. KPOV does not rely on public funding or government support. Every gift from private donors, grants and underwriting ensures that community radio thrives in Central Oregon. You can support KPOV by donating at kpov.org.

In addition to diverse programming, we offer our summer kids camp through Bend Park & Rec, as well as our twice yearly Be a DJ class in partnership with COCC, livestream from Bend Roots Revival, plus showcase live, local music every week on Center Stage.

“It’s remarkable what our volunteers, board and staff have built together over the past 20 years,” says Linda Orcelletto, executive director for KPOV. “At a time when access to free, independent media is more vital than ever, KPOV remains strong because of the dedication of our community. With continued support, we look forward to expanding our audience and serving as a local voice for Central Oregon for many more years.”

KPOV will host a special Open House on Sunday, October 19, from 12-3pm during our Fall Fund Drive (October 17–25). Stop by the station at 501 NW Bond Street in Bend to enjoy food from Laughing Planet, meet our DJs, tour the studio and see community radio in action.
