Mountain View Community Development is holding an open house at its newest site. Guests are welcome to drop by from 3:30-5:30pm. Thursday, June 25, to tour a microshelter and learn about how the nonprofit organization serves unhoused people in Central Oregon.
Community of Christ, 20380 Cooley Road, Bend, is hosting five microshelters, which are garden shed-sized structures with a bed, mini fridge, and heating and cooling. The nonprofit operates the site and provides case management to help people work toward their housing goals.
This Safe Parking & Microsheters Program site is scheduled to open July 1 and will be Mountain View Community Development’s fourth in Bend and 12th in the region. In addition to microshelters, the nonprofit has Safe Parking sites that offer people living in RVs and vehicles a safe, legal, sanitary place to stay while working with a case manager. MVCD has helped more than 100 people move into stable housing.
