Bill Anderson, a seasoned financial executive with nearly four decades of professional financial management experience, has officially expanded his nonpartisan platform for Crook County Treasurer.

Focusing on protecting Crook County’s financial future, Anderson’s campaign has gained significant momentum with key local endorsements from Crook County Commissioners Brian Barney and Susan Hermreck, as well as Prineville Mayor Steve Uffelman.

Anderson brings 39 years of successful professional financial management to the race, highlighted by his 29-year tenure (1994–2023) as the Chief Executive Officer of Mid Oregon Credit Union. Anderson is running to bring this independent, corporate-grade expertise directly to the stewardship of local tax dollars during a period of rapid regional growth.

“Crook County is a special place to live and work, but quick growth brings the serious responsibility to modernize our financial systems while maintaining the fiscal conservatism our community expects,” Anderson said. “I have the experience to safeguard our assets today and the clear vision required to prepare our treasury for the challenges of tomorrow.”

Backing his platform of trusted financial stewardship, Anderson has outlined a comprehensive four-part commitment to the residents of Crook County:

  • Safety and Liquidity: Prioritizing the absolute protection of principal while ensuring the county maintains the precise cash flow necessary to fund essential public services—ranging from law enforcement to critical infrastructure—without taking unnecessary risks.
  • Maximizing Returns: Safely optimizing the county’s investment portfolio to ensure a highly competitive return on idle funds, directly offsetting the financial burden on local taxpayers.
  • Transparency: Implementing clear, accessible, and pertinent financial reporting so that every county resident can easily track public investments and monitor the overall financial health of the treasury.
  • Modernization: Streamlining internal processes within the Treasurer’s office to increase operational efficiency, reduce administrative overhead, and ensure public systems move at the speed of the 21st century.

Anderson’s deep executive background is supported by a Bachelor of Science in

Business Management from Linfield College, an Associate of Science in Accounting from Lane Community College, and advanced financial management credentials from executive programs at Wharton, Cornell and Stanford University.

His private-sector qualifications are complemented by a strong foundation in local governance. Anderson’s prior public service includes roles on the Crook County Budget Committee, the Deschutes County Budget Committee, the Crook County Elected Officials Compensation Committee, and the City of Prineville Railroad Commission. This hands-on experience gives him a comprehensive understanding of county revenues, infrastructure funding, and municipal budget processes.

Anderson’s candidacy has earned the trust of prominent community leaders who emphasize his readiness for the office. “Bill Anderson possesses the exact combination of corporate financial leadership and local budget experience that Crook County needs right now,” said Crook County Commissioner Brian Barney in his endorsement.

Commissioner Susan Hermreck noted, “Bill’s deep analytical expertise and long track record of corporate oversight make him uniquely prepared to protect and modernize our county’s treasury.” Prineville City Councilor Steve Uffelman added, “Bill’s proven track record of managing millions in assets with absolute integrity makes him the ideal choice to safeguard our community’s tax dollars.”

“I am deeply honored to have the support of Commissioners Barney and Hermreck, and Mayor Uffelman,” said Anderson. “My priorities remain clear: absolute financial transparency, rigorous accountability, and securely invested funds to serve the working families of Crook County. I humbly ask for your vote to bring stability and trusted stewardship to the Treasurer’s office.”
