Owners of Step & Spine Physical Therapy, one of the fastest-growing independent physical therapy practices in Central Oregon, announced they plan to open a new clinic next summer in what will be the Shevlin Health & Wellness Center, a new health care complex being developed in NorthWest Crossing on Bend’s west side.
The 4,000-square-foot clinic will be the third Central Oregon location for Step & Spine Physical Therapy, which also operates clinics in Sisters and Redmond. Currently in development, the Shevlin Health & Wellness Center will be located near the corner of NW Crossing Drive and Shevlin Park Road in Bend.
Fratzke Commercial Real Estate Advisors, Inc. previously announced several healthcare tenants have leased space at the Center including anchor tenant High Lakes Health Care, Central Oregon Eye Care, Bend Step & Spine and Mountain View Acupuncture.
Step & Spine Physical Therapy co-founder and lead physical therapist, Barrett Ford, estimates the clinic will open in June of 2015 and will employ eight to 12 new staff members.
“When I started Step & Spine, I knew I wanted to eventually move into both Redmond and Bend,” said Ford who, with his wife, Jodi, opened Step & Spine’s first location in Sisters back in 2010. The clinic was a small, 200-square-foot facility that sat adjacent to a health club. “By the grace of God, things have started to come together.”
Two years after the opening of its Sisters clinic, Step & Spine Physical Therapy added a clinic in Redmond. Both sites have since expanded – Sisters to a 2,100-square-foot facility and Redmond to a 4,100-square-foot clinic – growth Ford attributes to a track record of positive patient outcomes.
“Our core concept has been to both treat and educate our patients well, and that’s starting to pay off for us,” Ford said. “Our patients, happy with the care they’ve gotten from us, have been really good at referring friends and family, and local physicians have been responsive to the quality of care we give here.”
NorthWest Crossing is a mixed-use neighborhood on Bend’s west side. In May, NorthWest Crossing representatives announced plans for the development of the Shevlin Health & Wellness Center, an 11-building complex that will accommodate health care providers focused on primary care, physical therapy, dentistry, radiology, eye care, pharmaceuticals and general medicine. High Lakes Health Care of Bend has signed on to be the site’s “anchor tenant.”
